Children’s Formation

On Sundays we have Sunday School for children K through fifth grade, along with a staffed nursery for toddlers and pre-K.

Children gather in the main Sanctuary during church, and after the Children’s Moment every Sunday, they are led to the Education Wing for Sunday School, where they will return for Communion.

Each children’s Sunday School classroom is led by a volunteer teacher, accompanied by another parent or volunteer member of the parish.

The nursery is a beautiful space for toddler to pre-K age children to play.

Level 1 is for children ages K-2nd grade.

Level 2 is for children ages 3rd-5th.

Children learn the stories of their faith, play fun games, and engage in creative and meaningful crafts.

Vacation Bible School takes place in the summer, and is offered to kids K-5th.

The diocese also provides camp opportunities for rising 3rd-5th graders, and information can be found here.

We hold a number of events throughout the year, including Parents’ Night Out, seasonal celebrations and crafts, a Parent and toddler groups, and full family events listed below.

St. John’s Players

The Children’s, Youth, and Music Ministries produce a liturgical musical in the Fall and Spring. This joint production is called St. John’s Players, and is the focus of the 9:30 service. This is a fun and meaningful worship experience for all generations.

If you would like to learn more about St. John’s Players and how to be involved, contact Lu, or Andy.

Youth Formation

Youth Group is for middle and high school students and takes place during the church service in the youth room. We are preparing to begin a curriculum called Fathom, which focuses on learning the narrative and nature of the Bible and equip youth to ask important questions as they read our sacred stories.

We also take part in diocesan youth events, such as the youth retreats and service trips that happen in the Fall and Spring. The diocese also offers service trip and summer camp opportunities as well that we encourage folks to be involved in!

Other events happened throughout the year, such as craft and celebration events, and other fun opportunities! We often partner with the Children’s Ministries for these events.

Family Formation

The Youth and Children’s Ministries hold joint events for the whole family. This provides opportunities for fellowship that are more accessible for families with kids in each ministry and an opportunity for all families to enjoy community. Events include:

  • Family Services

  • Family Coffee Hour (Every Third Sunday)

  • Seasonal Events (Pumpkins and Pizza, Advent Wreath Making, Family Christmas, etc)

  • Potlucks and Happy Hours

  • Summer Family Camp

Please contact our Director of Family Faith, Lu Walters for more information about family events.
